Audiophile Circuit Design
This preamplifier has a circuit designed for fully balanced applications. Thus the inputs, the volume control, and the preamplification stage are all fully balanced with no conversion stage at all.
It uses two high-performance stereo LME49860 operational amplifiers mounted on DIP-8 support (removable). The latter can then be renewed/changed in order to adapt the overall sound signature. The amplification stage is hybrid, that is to say it relies on OPA as well as discrete components subcircuits.
The output stages are constructed from discrete components with differential signaling architecture, which ensures excellent stability in the output signal.
Analog Attenuation
Thanks to a relay matrix driven by a logic circuit ALTERA MAX, the P16 is able to provide a constant and accurate volume on each channel.
This type of volume of control combines the best of both worlds with the precision and finesse of pure analog attenuation as well as the comfort of digital control and the ability to change the volume remotely.
Linear Regulated Power Supply
Gustard P26 carries its own linear regulated power supply with a high-speed low-noise rectifier.
It also benefits from a custom ultra-low noise discrete voltage regulator.
The power supply finally uses a 50W toroidal transformer specifically developed for properly supplying this circuit.
A selector on the back of the unit toggles between 230V / 110V power grids.
User-Friendly Design
The P26 comes with infrared remote control. This remote enables the user to access the volume, mute, and source selection functions.
WARNING: In order to operate the remote control, please press and hold the AMP button on the remote control for 4 seconds.
All control is also available on the front panel. An ON / OFF button, a control button to select the source and configure the input/output gain. Finally, a rotary controller is used to adjust the volume level.
The OLED monitor screen shows real-time the active source, the current volume level, and the in / out gain parameters.
P16 has two balanced inputs on XLR stereo ports and one unbalanced input (stereo RCA). one RCA stereo output and one XLR stereo output are used to connect the P26 to a balanced or unbalanced amplifier.
