Innovative 4-Driver System

Custom-Tuned Tonal Balance

Handcrafted Precision

Premium Build Quality

A Completely New IEM Design

The KE4 starts fresh from the ground up, featuring a 2 Dynamic Driver (2DD) isobaric sub-woofer system, combined with 2 Balanced Armature (2BA) full-range and tweeter speakers. The 2 Kiwi Ears custom 10mm dynamic driver focuses on sub-bass impact and slam, highlighting kick drum and bass guitar presence. A RAB 32257 BA driver, which has been customized with enhanced ventilation, ensures a seamless integration of the bass with the midrange, while providing lush and textured vocals and instruments. An American-made Knowles RAD 33518 BA tweeter delivers pristine and natural-sounding treble with excellent upper frequency extension for an airy sound.

Tonal Superiority

The KE4 carries Kiwi Ears’ commitment to excellent tonal balance. The KE4 follows our new target tuning, which emphasizes precise sub-bass impact, a warm, yet natural, midrange, and precise treble. It is a sound signature that has been refined throughout the years, and one that we believe to be the most natural and engaging. The tonal signature is suitable for every purpose, from music enjoyment and gaming, to professional on-stage monitoring and audio engineering.

Precisely Engineered

The Kiwi Ears KE4 has been engineered by hand from start to finish. Featuring a 3-way passive crossover system and 3 independent sound tubes, every miniscule detail of acoustic engineering has been undertaken to achieve its tuning. The shells are made from medical-grade resin and are adorned with hand-finished faceplates.

Kiwi Ears KE4 is a bass cannon with a melodic character!

The overall sound delivery is warm, with a low-frequency bias.
Still, 2 DD make themselves felt, but although the bass plays a dominant role, it does not score in the middle.
The sub-bass shows its power by playing the infra-low 20 kHz.
It has decent pressure and scale.
A variety of tracks with an abundance of low frequencies sound voluminous in these headphones, with a truly subwoofer effect.
The bass dominates, but at the same time leaves room for other frequencies, without violating the integrity of the sound canvas.
The midrange frequencies feel slightly rounded and smoothed - this shows that the headphones have a bias towards musicality.
Instruments in the midrange segment have a softened sound.
Acoustic live instruments have melodiousness and friendliness, they will not cut with sharp attacks and will not pull you out of a pleasant immersion in music.
The upper frequencies are smooth, but they are not devoid of detail and intelligibility of percussion.
They are a little distant in the scene, probably influenced by the damper, which results in a non-stressed, but at the same time very pleasant sound.
The vocals have decent resolution, they are located inside the stage among the musicians, slightly moving forward to the listener.
The stage is ellipsoid, of medium size.

Headphones enchant with their sound in calm genres and awaken an emotional uplift in driving genres.
Kiwi Ears KE4 are suitable for long-term listening to music, and even at high volume they do not cause fatigue.
They play any electronic music very cool, and meaty metal sounds!

Meta tuning is good.

Safety Dance

+ Well separated and cohesive U-shaped tuning
+ Deep and rumbly sub-bass
+ Lower midrange is well represented
+ Inoffensive but still well extended treble
+ Good balance of musical and technical
+ Comfortable fit and solid build quality

- Tuning might be too boring/safe for some
- Bass emphasis won't be to everyone's liking
- Vocals lack a little heart/soul/magic
- Accessories could be better for the price
- Soundstage could be more expansive

New "Meta Tuning"; New Refreshing Experience

I have tried almost all of Kiwi Ears earphones before and nothing sounds like the Kiwi Ears KE4.
In general, I can see why some people might like this a lot. It has a strangely immersive tuning that draws me. However, it is not flawless.
Female vocals don't sound sibilant/fatiguing, which is great. However, they can sound slightly more recessed and lack of "sparkle/air" on certain tracks. Yay and nay.
Snare drums don't sound sibilant but they may lack the "crisp" sound that I find myself craving for.
Bass has good depth and punch but it may not be good enough on certain very busy tracks.
I really like the faceplate design. The earbuds are light and fit comfortably but they may protrude slightly due to the shape of the shells.
The cable is fine, and the ear tips included look like the newest Flex ear tips.
I prefer the Kiwi Ears Earphone Carrying Case to the default carrying case included.

Kiwi Ears KE4 - Highly Recommendable IEMs in $200

For weeks, I’ve tested brand new Kiwi Ears IEMs, KE4. The configuration consists of 2 Balanced Armatures(BA) and 2 dynamic drivers (DD), where the isobaric system was employed for DDs providing the low bass. On the other hand, 2 BAs take the mid and high frequency region.

The sound signature is a warmly tilted so that it’s a bit bassier but not overwhelming too much. Thus, the mid and high signals still own their substantial presence without masking. This characteristics give a delicate warmth.

It’s worth noting that the bass presentation is quite distinctive in comparison with conventional 1DD system. The isobaric woofer seemed to offer more refined coherent low frequency sound.

In design-wise, I love the face plate that shows off the brushed metal and high gloss finish on top. Depending on the lighting condition, its surface shines differently from matt brushed to glittering texture.

Most importantly, KE4 is easy to wear due to the ergonomic-3D-printed receiver shell. Of course, it’s made of medical-grade resin, providing extra comfort along with new ear-tips(called as ‘Kiwi Ears Flex Ear Tips’). In contrast with its black-colored shell, ear-tip stems are crafted with a solid metal.

I think the combination of faceplate, shell design, and stem/ear-tips make KE4 premium look and feel. In conclusion, Kiwi Ears KE4 is one of the highly recommendable IEMs in $200 price range.
