Resounding Bass

The Kiwi Ears Quartet was designed around our new sobaric double dynamic driver subwoofer. The innovative driver design utilizes two 10mm titanium diaphragms drivers, each independently driven by dual magnetic circuits. The pair of drivers were passively aligned to be phase synced and prevent soundwave cancellation. This new subwoofer design emits extremely well extended sub-bass kicks that are tighter, faster, and deeper than any other previous woofer designs. The Quartet is Kiwi Ear’s answer for all those who want a fun in-ear monitor that will provide all the quality bass one could need.

Harmonious Balance

Although the Quartet is a bass-centric IEM, we still aimed to provide a natural tonal balance. This goal was centered around the need to provide a textured and powerful bass, but without any muddying or dulling in the mids or treble. The dynamic drivers were crossed over using a passive low-pass network at 350Hz to allow plenty of rich and thick bass, while the mids from 350-1kHz were tuned to be completely flat.

This allows an accurate tonality in the mids like that of neutral studio monitors, while giving a hint of warmth in the lower mids. This means the Quartet will sound thunderous in the bass, but still clean and flat in the mids, preventing unwanted bloating found in most earphones.

Custom Balanced Armature Drivers

The Quartet features a custom mid-high frequency balanced armature and a custom ultra-high tweeter balanced armature drivers. These drivers were modified to fit the balance of the new dynamic drivers by a tuned venting system to provide more airflow. Following Kiwi Ears’ tradition, the balanced armatures are passively tuned to fit our in-house target curvature for the mids and trebles. This means the mid-treble provides crisp and clean tone to vocals and instruments, without sounding either dull or nasally. The highs are detailed with plenty of sparkle for professional performance usage, but are natural and free of shrillness or fatigue.

Recommended Usages

The Quartet can be thought of as neutral studio monitors, but with sub-bass and bass emphasis beginning at 350Hz. This provides a little bit more of body, texture, and richness in the lower mids, but neutral mids and upper mids. The Quartet is perfect for performance drummers and bass guitarists who require powerful and impactful lows. Music enthusiasts who want quality bass but a natural tonality will also benefit from the Quartet’s tuning balance.

Kiwiears Quartet – A Solid All-Rounder That Actually Delivers

Alright, so I’ve been daily driving the Kiwiears Quartet for a while now, and I’ve gotta say—these things are surprisingly good. My music taste is all over the place, so any IEM I use has to handle everything from Nordic folk and Tamil melodies to hip-hop, rock, trance, and cinematic scores. And somehow, the Quartet handles it all like a champ.

Bass – Tight, Punchy, and Clean
The bass is definitely tuned with fun in mind—it punches nicely without being too boomy. Tracks from XXXTentacion and Drake hit hard without drowning the vocals. Even when I play something bass-heavy like an Infected Mushroom trance mix, the bass stays controlled. It’s not overly boosted, just tight and satisfying.

Mids – Smooth and Full of Emotion
Here’s where the magic is. Vocals feel rich and alive. Whether I’m vibing to AR Rahman or Ilayaraja melodies, or losing myself in Santhosh Narayanan’s layered production, the Quartet delivers. The mids are warm and detailed—perfect for Tamil tracks where emotion lives in the vocals. And even in rock tracks like Linkin Park or Three Days Grace, guitars and drums sound full and not muddy.

Treble – Safe and Non-Fatiguing
The treble’s not trying to stab you in the ears, which I respect. It’s smooth, maybe slightly rolled off up top, but you still get enough detail. Joyner Lucas and Eminem’s quick-fire verses are easy to follow, and the shimmer in orchestral or ambient tracks doesn’t get lost—it just never turns harsh, which is ideal for long listening sessions.

Soundstage & Imaging – Intimate but Well-Placed
You don’t get a super wide “concert hall” kind of stage, but what’s there is nicely spaced out. When I listen to Heilung or Wardruna, the ritualistic drums and background effects feel immersive. Hans Zimmer’s soundtracks have a good sense of layering, and Ludwig Göransson’s more experimental stuff like Tenet also comes through really well.

How It Handles My Playlist:
Nordic Folk (Danheim, Wardruna, Heilung) – Deep drums and chanting sound powerful and immersive. Great layering and atmosphere.

Hip-Hop (Kendrick, Joyner Lucas, Drake, X, Eminem) – Vocals are crystal clear, bass is punchy, and nothing gets lost in busy mixes.

Tamil Melodies (AR Rahman, Ilayaraja, Anirudh, Santhosh Narayanan, Yuvan, Harris Jayaraj) – Absolute treat. Vocals shine, instruments sound lush and emotional.

Rock / Alt (Linkin Park, Three Days Grace) – Guitars and drums hit hard without sounding muddy. Chester’s screams? Spot on.

Trance / Psychedelic – Solid sub-bass and clean layering. Not super wide but still very immersive.

Movie Scores (Hans Zimmer, Ludwig Göransson) – Big, cinematic moments land with impact. Details are present, nothing sounds flat.

What I Liked:
✔️ Fun and engaging sound signature
✔️ Mids are beautiful, especially for vocals
✔️ No treble fatigue, good for long sessions
✔️ Handles all genres in my library without breaking a sweat
✔️ Super comfortable to wear

What Could Be Better:
❌ Soundstage is a bit intimate, not super wide
❌ Treble could use a touch more sparkle in some tracks (Based on the music I personally listen to)
❌ Not for hardcore detail freaks who want a microscope in their ears

Final Thoughts
For someone like me, who listens to everything from tribal chants and Tamil classics to modern rap and rock, the Kiwiears Quartet hits the sweet spot. It doesn’t try too hard to be analytical or overly colored—it just sounds good. Fun, emotional, balanced.

If you’re looking for a set that won’t ask you to change your playlist to suit the IEM, this one’s got your back. Easily one of the best all-rounders I’ve used in this price range.

Sehr geil

A Balanced and Immersive Sound at an Affordable Price

The Kiwi Quartet offers a surprisingly good listening experience for its price. The sound is warm and balanced, with well-defined bass, detailed mids, and smooth yet present highs. They are ideal for genres like jazz, pop, and acoustic music, where instruments and vocals feel natural and well-represented.

Comfort is another strong point, as their ergonomic fit allows for long listening sessions without fatigue. Additionally, the included cable is of good quality and helps reduce interference.

If you're looking for versatile IEMs with a pleasant and detailed sound profile, the Kiwi Quartet is an excellent choice in its price range. Highly recommended!

Outstanding Pair of IEMs

As soon as I got them, I was blown away by the sound and comfort. I own several IEMs ranging between 20-60 euros and as you might have guessed these are my most expensive pair, and I have to say - it shows. These are probably the best pair of IEMs I own now. As said previously - comfort on these are excellent, I can use them for hours without any fatigue. Sound just goes beyond anything that I heard previously and switches really do change the tuning. Because of these switches, I think that anyone can find a sound signature they like on these IEMs. Well done Kiwi Ears, my favorite pair was Cadenza previously, now Quartet is my new favorite.

Amazing IEM

I bought this together with the Aful Explorer. The Quartet has a little more bass but both hold their own.
The tuning switches really work. I own 20+ IEM’s ranging from 15,- to 435,- but the Quartet is a banger!
You like clean bass and balanced mids and highs? Buy the Quartet , set the switches to 0-0 (or 1-0 if you want extreme bass) and you are ready to go! Fancy a little less bass? Go for the Explorer.
Both are HIGHLY recommended!
If people say not impressed or switches not noticeable then they are full of it. Probably hobbyist listening to Spotify stating mp3 sounds the same as flac🤣
Not audiophiles like us!😉
