As the title says, I love this little thing, sounds great and is nice and small. I use it with a pair of balanced Fiio inears and the combination seems to work well. A nice, full sound with enough detail not to sound muddy and a decent sound stage ( I haven't tried the EQ).
The "negatives" can't really be called negatives, as if you would like to address these issues you really would need to buy something else.
I am old so the tiny screen can be hard to read, if that's a problem the device isn't for you. The tiny screen can also make selection difficult with my big old man sausage fingers, but again, if this is a problem then it's not for you.
Set the max volume because if you have pressed the dial and then accidentally move it the volume can blow your ears out, I just did that because wow, it gets loud.
The way of creating a playlist seems a bit of a faff to be honest so, well, I haven't.
It's a shame the memory card support isn't larger, but then if this is a problem for you, well (you know what is coming next) this isn't the product for you!
Despite all of this, at the discounted price I paid (less than £100) I love this thing, tiny, sounds great, the battery has a decent life and even with my giant sausage fingers, when I put my glasses on I can get around it pretty easily.
I haven't yet tried it as a player connected to the Hifi so can't speak on that.
It has loads of features ( a lot of which I probably don't use as I should) so if you can get it at a discounted sale piece buy it, even if you can't and you want a great little thing to play your music on the go, then get it. And yes I could use my S24 Plus, but I use local storage, not a streamer, and I like to keep my memory available for video, plus, even putting the 24 through a decent DAC, this sounds better, what can you do?
No regrets. Get one (or a bigger one if the "cons" are game changers) plug in some decent IEMS or overears and away you go.
