10mm New PET Driver

The Shangguan Wan'er SE features an advanced 10mm PET dynamic driver equipped with N52 dual magnets and dual cavity high-performance technology. This driver boasts high diaphragm rigidity, delivering accurate and fast response speed with excellent audio separation. Enjoy low distortion, fast response, high resolution, and a soft, delicate sound with strong and responsive bass.

Tuning Philosophy

In terms of sound performance, the Shangguan Wan'er SE offers a more neutral sound with less coloration compared to the original Shangguan Wan'er. The focus is on restoring natural sound and instrument authenticity. The overall resolution and transparency have been significantly improved. The SE version features a thicker diaphragm, a lower unit height, larger holes in front of the diaphragm, and adjustments to the sound nozzle. These enhancements reduce bass and increase treble transparency, resulting in a more impactful auditory experience.

Abstract Minimalism

The Shangguan Wan'er SE has been redesigned to align with a professional, stylish, minimalist, and understated look. The new professional tuning is highlighted by this elegant design. The black and white colors exude grandeur, with white like magnolia and black like a swan, calm and serene, showcasing both elegance and professionalism.

Replaceable 0.78mm Two-Pin Socket

The earphone features a 0.78mm two-pin socket, allowing for flexible cable replacement and upgrades to express various sound styles. The included 4-core mixed braided oxygen-free copper silver-plated cable ensures fast signal transmission, significantly reducing signal distortion or loss, preserving the essence of the sound.

Not perferct, but good

For 20 dollars there is a lot of headphone here, with a more balanced sound than a lot of alternatives that go for more of a v curve.
They have a lot of good features you'd expect from decent headphones of this caliber, really low lows are there but not overpowering, I would say these still sound a bit more soulful than a proper reference pair, low mids are good, highs arent overpowering, and thats kind of what I wanted, I wanted a cheap alternative as a compact reference pair. Surely, 20 dollar headphones you get at a grocery store dont get close to these.

But there are a couple issues, that arent deal breakers but must be mentioned:
1. There is some difference in the sound of both ears, somewhere around high mids, you wont notice always tho, cuz the stereo image generally is good, but I can tell there is one narrow band thats a bit stronger in one ear
2. The cable is atrocious, not only its a generally cheap cable, but the "memory hook" is a metal wire shrink wrapped to the cable, veeery hard to set correctly, plus they come with pretty cheap ear tips, so its kinda hard to set it right cuz you cant tell how they should sit, because youre not sure which tips to use, because they sit awful with all of them due to the cable, I ended up using better aftermarket tips and a cheap cable I had laying around, but this must be mentioned, not everyone has a backup. No point in getting cheap IEMs and then buying more accessories, just get a better IEM altogether if this is an issue to you.
3. Least important - build feels pretty cheap, not horrible and easily ignored, but not amazing, I do like the metal nozzles tho

They are much better than many cheap headphones Ive tried, but if you're only gonna buy one pair and dont have a better cable and tips at home, these may not be perfect for you. There are better pairs at this price range for a fun listen too. I bought these so I have a) a more reference tuned pair, and b) I can keep my Zero 2's hooked up to my DAP with a 4 pole cable, and these perfectly fulfill that role for me - a cheap, more accurate pair for when I just need wired headphones.

I have no regrets abt these and I have no problem giving them 4 stars if the above issues are easily resolvable, which they are for me. As your only pair ever with included accessories, I couldnt give more than 3, but for me these are a 4.

"think LESS, listen MORE"

If you like a warm neutral tuning with an intimate soundstage, this may be what you're looking for.
I've tried the TANGZU Wan'er S.G before and it was a tad too "bassy" to my liking. Though I liked its tuning, I wished for lesser bass, and the Studio Edition seems to be it.
The cable ear hooks have changed, and in my opinion, for the better. The "stiff" part is actually adjustable and it can be more convenient for stage performers who are worried that their earbuds would fall off from their ears.
When I use the Wan'er S.G Studio Edition, I'm really immersed in music.

Tangzu Wan'er Studio Editon Review

Pros:
- Cheap price
- Light build
- Warm relaxing tonality
- Decent vocal performance
- Relaxing treble
- Decent technicalities
Cons:
- Plastic build (expected for the price)
- Short nozzle
- Questionable use of steel-enforcing, stiff ear hooks?
- Tangly cable

Tonality: Warm neutral
Bass
The bass of the Wan’er is decently boosted, a bit above neutral.
Subbass rumble has sufficient air movement, but it doesn’t feel very tactile or have a great sense of control.
Midbass sounds a bit better, more emphasized. Kick drums have a decent body and texture. Bass speed is only average. With busier bass sections in fast paced rock or metal, the bass hits can feel a bit blurry
The bass shelf is nowhere near basshead territory of course, but I think it’s just enough for studio work.
I know it’s a bit cliche and really obvious, but the fit also affects how you perceive the bass region. With relatively small shells, short nozzles and a unique steel wire-enforced ear hooks; having a good, stable seal in order to retain the bass is not an easy task with this iem.
Mids
The midrange of the Wan’er SE feels just a hint warm and very safe overall. The bass doesn’t bleed much into the midrange to make it sound muddy.
Male vocals sound a bit thin to my taste when listening to bass baritones. Female vocals sound really forward with great clarity, close to sounding shouty with 10db of pinna gain. Mezzo-soprano and soprano sound very expressive and lively. The mix choir in orchestra tracks sound quite nice and very harmonized.
There’s also very minimal amount of sibilant when listening to Ed Sheeran’s Shivers
Instruments have ample note weight and natural timbre. Piano sounds dense and pleasant. Violin sounds quite mellow and smooth in texture.
Treble
Treble is quite smooth and decently extended. I didn’t feel any sharp peaks coming through even at high volume, so that’s a good thing. It’s lacking bits of that upper brilliance, but all things considered, the treble region does sound quite neutral. Cymbal crashes and hi-hats have moderate shimmering and sparkles, enough presence to let you know it’s there, but sound a bit soft overall.
Technicalities
The Wan’er SE has an average technical performance, quite align with many other similar iem in its price catergories. It has more width than height and depth, with decent layering and imaging. Micro detail is also at “decent” level.
